Welcome to the seaside
town of Pietra Ligure in Riviera…
It's all here: the foaming waves that crash onto the reefs, the
salty sea air carried by the wind, the sensations of undulating
ferment. Here, the weather can change in just a few short hours,
as the wind clears the clouds and the sunlight comes flooding in,
even in the depths of winter (though it is worth noting that the
winter temperatures are as mild as can be).
But Pietra Ligure offers so much more than just the sun, sea and
sand... Set between the Ligurian sea and the mountains, Pietra
Ligure is also blessed with the most magnificent inland areas that
are rich in history and where wild nature still reigns supreme.
There are innumerable opportunities for walks and trips around
breathtaking, timeless panoramas. As an example, the Maremola Valley,
which has some of the oldest beechwood trees in Europe, and the
immense Ciazza Secche cork plantation - a protected area that plays
host to a wealth of rare flowers and divinely aromatic porcini
mushrooms. Not to be missed is the ancient town of Ranzi, which
is divided into three districts and is where, every year on the
occasion of the corpus domini festival, the 'Ranzi Star' (a beautiful
star-shaped bed of fresh flowers) is laid out.
